Police Officer Arrested Over Alleged Armed Robberies Targeting MoMo Vendors

Inspector Bright Appiah Danquah, a police officer stationed at Abuakwa, has reportedly been arrested together with three other suspects over alleged armed robbery attacks targeting mobile money vendors in Kumasi and surrounding communities.

According to reports, the officer allegedly robbed a mobile money vendor of GH¢38,600 at gunpoint during one of the operations.

In a dramatic twist, the suspect is said to have mistakenly left his mobile phone at the robbery scene.

Reports further indicate that he later visited a police station to report the phone as stolen, only to encounter the same victim who had arrived to officially report the robbery incident.

The development reportedly raised suspicion and led to further investigations, resulting in his arrest alongside the other suspects.

Police are expected to continue investigations into the alleged robbery network and determine whether the suspects were connected to other attacks on MoMo vendors in the Ashanti Region.
