Parliament’s Second Session of Ninth Parliament to Commence on February 3, 2026

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has officially announced that the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will commence on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
In a statement signed on Monday, January 19, 2026, the Speaker appointed Parliament House, Accra, as the venue for the session.
“I, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, by this Constitutional Instrument, appoint Parliament House, Accra, to be the place, and 12 noon of Tuesday, 3rd February 2026,” the statement reads.
The announcement is in accordance with clause (1) of Article 112 of the 1992 Constitution, which empowers the Speaker to determine the date and place for the commencement of parliamentary sessions.
The Second Session is expected to address critical legislative business, including the consideration of bills, oversight functions, and other matters of national importance.
