Fulani Chief Urges Government to Fast-Track Rehabilitation of Ekye Amanfrom–Donkorkrom Road

The Fulani Chief of Donkorkrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District, Sariki Iddrisu Asambo, has appealed to the government to fast-track the rehabilitation of the Ekye Amanfrom–Donkorkrom road to improve transportation and promote economic activities in the district.

According to the chief, the deteriorating condition of the road continues to hamper the movement of people and goods, particularly livestock, which remains one of the district’s key economic activities.

He made the appeal during the official commissioning of the Donkorkrom Cattle Market, a new initiative established to provide a centralized trading hub for cattle dealers and livestock farmers within the district.

Sariki Iddrisu Asambo disclosed that Fulani herdsmen from surrounding communities are ready to bring their cattle to the market every Saturday. However, he warned that the poor state of the road could discourage traders, increase transportation costs, and undermine the market’s success.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Hon. Kate Mawusi Babanawo, described the establishment of the cattle market as a significant milestone in the district’s economic development.

She said the market would provide a convenient trading centre for cattle dealers, eliminating the need to transport livestock to distant markets while reducing the associated risks and costs.

Hon. Babanawo further noted that the initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for women and the youth, stimulate local commerce, and boost the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of the District Assembly.
