Two men have been arrested in Ashaiman for allegedly impersonating police officers, stealing a motorbike and unlawfully possessing police accoutrements.
The suspects have been identified as 32-year-old Godwin Agbolosu and 35-year-old Richard Tamakloe.
According to reports, the two were arrested after a motorbike rider spotted them riding two motorcycles in the town and recognised one of the bikes as his allegedly stolen motorbike.
The rider reportedly alerted the authorities, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Police Accoutrements Recovered
A search conducted on the suspects allegedly resulted in the recovery of several items associated with police operations.
The items included:
- One police body armour
- One Taser
- Handcuffs
- A police baton commonly known as a “Gotta”
- Two military-style caps
- Two Royal motorbikes
The recovery of the items has raised further suspicion that the suspects may have been using police accoutrements while allegedly posing as police officers.
Court Appearance Expected
Godwin Agbolosu and Richard Tamakloe are expected to appear before the court as investigations continue.
The investigation is focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding the alleged motorbike theft, police impersonation and unlawful possession of police accoutrements.
Authorities are expected to conduct further inquiries to determine whether the suspects may be linked to other incidents involving the alleged impersonation of security personnel.
