The suspects were arrested on Friday, July 17, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Accra Regional Police Command in collaboration with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID).

In a statement issued on Monday, July 20, the Police identified the suspects as 50-year-old Torgbui Agah Semaglo, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26, and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.

According to the Police, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are linked to a criminal network involved in armed robbery and landguard activities within Sapeiman and neighbouring communities.

A search conducted at their premises led to the recovery of several items, including a pump-action gun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a dummy Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AK-47 round, a talisman, and two kitchen knives.

The Police said the group is suspected of using the retrieved weapons and items to intimidate and terrorise residents in the area.

“All retrieved items have been secured as exhibits for evidential purposes,” the statement said.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations as authorities work to establish their involvement in other robbery cases and related criminal activities.

The Accra Regional Police Command added that efforts are underway to identify and arrest other persons who may be connected to the group.

The Command commended members of the public for providing information that supports police operations and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency contacts.

The Police assured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the region.
