GES Directed to Investigate Viral Video of Student Assault

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has been directed to investigate a disturbing viral video showing a student physically assaulting a fellow student.
Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Abas Apaak, confirmed that the video, which has been widely circulated on social media, has come to the attention of the Ministry of Education.
According to Dr. Apaak, the footage has been forwarded to the Director-General of the GES for immediate action.
“The attached viral video of a student assaulting another student has come to the attention of the Ministry. I have since forwarded it to the Director-General of the GES for action,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Education, Dr. Apaak stressed that acts of indiscipline and lawlessness in schools would not be tolerated.
“Indiscipline will be punished,” he emphasized.
The video reportedly shows one student repeatedly attacking another while several bystanders looked on without intervening. The victim is seen attempting to flee, but the assault allegedly continues.
The GES is expected to identify those involved and apply appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with its code of conduct.
The incident has renewed public concerns over student discipline, safety in schools, and the need for stricter enforcement of behavioural standards within educational institutions.
