Two Suspects Arrested Over Alleged Murder in Tamale

The has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of a man in Tamale after they were reportedly intercepted while attempting to cross into neighbouring Togo.
The victim’s body was conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed him dead. The body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
According to preliminary police investigations, the deceased shared a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects and another Nigerian national identified as Godwin Nwafor.
In a statement, the Northern Regional Police Command said the suspects allegedly admitted during interrogation that they conspired to kill the deceased following a dispute over proceeds from alleged internet fraud activities.
Police also conducted a search after the arrests and recovered several items believed to have been stolen from the deceased’s room. The exhibits include mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewellery, wristwatches, clothing and personal documents.
The recovered items have been retained to assist with ongoing investigations.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear before a court in Tamale on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The Police said investigations are continuing, including forensic examinations and efforts to retrieve relevant CCTV footage.
The Northern Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to provide any credible information that could assist with the investigation, assuring that anyone found to have played a role in the crime will be brought before the law.
As the case is before the courts, the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.
