MINER HOSPITALISED AFTER ALLEGEDLY ATTACKING LANDLORD AND HARMING HIMSELF AT WASSA KYEIKROM

A 26-year-old miner, Peter Okyere, is currently receiving treatment after allegedly attacking his landlord and later mutilating himself at Wassa Kyeikrom.
The disturbing incident has left residents shocked after the miner reportedly stormed his landlord’s room wielding a metal object and behaving strangely.
Peter Okyere, who hails from Nyinahin, had reportedly lived in the community for about two months while engaging in mining activities. He is currently on admission at Green Shield Hospital with support from the Wassa Dominase Police Command.
Speaking to the media, the landlord, Yaw Anaafi, said the miner had lived peacefully with his colleagues since arriving in the area and had shown no signs of violence or substance abuse.
According to him, the situation suddenly escalated when Peter allegedly entered his room carrying a metal object while asking unusual questions about how to become wealthy and complaining about hardships following the death of his father.
Yaw Anaafi explained that a neighbour intervened during the confrontation and helped him escape unharmed.
He added that shortly after the incident, the miner allegedly returned to his room and harmed himself.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Peter Okyere denied being under the influence of alcohol, tramadol, marijuana, or any hard substance during the incident.
He claimed he was overwhelmed by thoughts about making money and improving his life, which he said led to the unfortunate situation.
The victim has appealed to the public for support, saying he is currently in severe pain and emotional distress.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
