A six-year-old girl reported missing on Monday has been found dead inside a chop box at Nsuaem M/A Basic School in the Eastern Region, police confirmed Tuesday morning.
The child’s body was discovered with her underwear and sandals nearby, according to preliminary reports from the scene. She had last been seen playing near the school premises the previous afternoon.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has launched an investigation, treating the case as suspicious. The body has been taken to the Koforidua Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Authorities are appealing for information from the public and have urged calm as inquiries continue. No arrests have been made.
The incident has left the Nsuaem community in shock, with parents and residents expressing concern over child safety in the area.
