Armed operatives storm former BoG Governor’s home at dawn, demand ‘vaults’ and seize vehicles

Heavily armed men, believed to be from the National Security Secretariat, stormed the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, in the early hours of Wednesday, March 19 . The operation, which took place at Roman Ridge around 5 a.m., involved about 15 soldiers who arrived in three vehicles and forced their way into the premises.

The operatives quickly disabled the CCTV system and demanded that Dr. Addison show them supposed “vaults” in the house. However, the former Governor denied having any vaults or hidden money. Despite this, the operatives ransacked the residence, leaving it in disarray.

When they didn’t find anything, they seized four of Dr. Addison’s vehicles, leaving two behind. Later that evening, the family was told to retrieve the seized vehicles, which were parked opposite Jokers Club in Labadi.

Dr. Addison and his family were deeply shaken by the incident. This raid comes just a month after a similar incident at the home of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in Accra. On February 11, 2025, a group of 12 individuals, including military personnel and plainclothes officers, entered Mr. Ofori-Atta’s residence without a warrant or prior notice.
