The Ghana Education Service has dismissed reports suggesting that a student has died at Ghana National College, clarifying that the reported incident dates back to 2018.
In a Facebook post, the Service said no student had died at the school recently and urged the public to disregard claims circulating about the alleged incident.
The GES described the reports as attempts by unidentified individuals to reopen painful memories for the bereaved family and damage the reputation of teachers, house mistresses and the school.
It said the circulation of such information was unfair to those affected by the incident and called on the public not to give credence to the claims.
The clarification comes amid concerns over reports suggesting a student had died at the Cape Coast-based institution.
The Service did not provide further details about the 2018 incident in the post.
