Rockstone, Krymi, other celebs condemn soldier for assaulting civilians at Pharmacy

A chorus of condemnation has erupted from Ghana’s entertainment industry following the viral video of Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams assaulting a pharmacist and a female customer at a Burma Camp pharmacy, with rappers Obrafour (Rockstone), Krymi, and others denouncing the “barbaric” military brutality and demanding swift justice.

Rockstone, the veteran hiplife pioneer, took to X on Wednesday evening, calling the act “unacceptable” and urging the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to act decisively. “A soldier abusing civilians like this? No uniform justifies violence—throw the book at him! #JusticeForPharmacyVictims,” he posted,

garnering over 3,000 likes and 1,200 retweets within hours. Krymi, the rising Afrobeats star, amplified the call in an Instagram story: “This is Ghana, not a battlefield. Soldiers protect, not terrorize. GAF, do better—our people deserve respect!”

The outcry joins voices from celebrities like King Promise and Efya, who echoed demands for accountability after Williams, attached to the Chief of Air Staff’s office, was arrested by military police on Thursday.

The August 29 incident, captured on CCTV, shows Williams slapping the pharmacist repeatedly over a billing dispute before turning on the customer attempting to record, wielding a metallic ladder as a weapon.

GAF’s October 30 statement confirmed the arrest and an internal probe, condemning “any form of misconduct.” The victims, treated for injuries, include the pharmacist with facial bruises and the woman, daughter of a Major General, with head trauma. The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) labeled it a “gross abuse of power,” calling for training reforms
