A fire has destroyed two rooms in the girls’ dormitory at Mim Senior High School in the Ahafo Region, but a swift response by the Ghana National Fire Service prevented the blaze from spreading to the rest of the building. No injuries or deaths were recorded.

Firefighters from the Goaso Municipal Fire Station responded to the emergency on Monday, July 13, 2026, and successfully brought the fire under control.

The blaze affected two of the eight rooms in the girls’ dormitory. However, firefighters managed to save the remaining six rooms, preventing what could have been a far more devastating incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established and remains under investigation by the Ghana National Fire Service.

Following the incident, the Ahafo Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Samuel Ferdie Tetteh, visited the school to assess the extent of the damage and inspect the scene.

The Ghana National Fire Service said no casualties were recorded and reaffirmed its commitment to responding swiftly to emergencies to protect lives and property.
