Final-Year Koforidua Sec Tech Student Dies During WASSCE Period

A final-year student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School, identified as Apassa Isaac, has reportedly died after allegedly leaving the school campus without authorization during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to reports, Isaac sat for his English Language paper before reportedly breaking bounds and leaving the school premises without permission.

Sources indicate that he later fell ill and was rushed to a medical facility, where he was reportedly diagnosed with severe malaria. Despite efforts by health professionals to save his life, he unfortunately passed away.

Reports further suggest that the student had previously faced disciplinary challenges related to absenteeism and repeatedly leaving campus without authorization. School authorities had allegedly invited his parents on several occasions to discuss his conduct, but those meetings were reportedly not attended.

His academic progress was also said to have been affected by persistent truancy. According to reports, he initially missed the deadline for WASSCE registration and was later enrolled after going through a penalty registration process.

Meanwhile, his parents have reportedly arrived to retrieve his body for burial arrangements.

School authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. The tragic development has left students, staff, and members of the school community saddened as they mourn the loss of their colleague.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and further details are expected as authorities provide updates.
