E/R: 11 Arrested, Weapons Seized in Adombrobe Chieftaincy Clash

A joint security operation involving the Ghana Police Service, the Military, and National Security has led to the arrest of eleven suspects and the retrieval of arms and ammunition in connection with an ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Adombrobe, near Aburi in the Akuapem South Municipality.

The operation, led by the Aburi District Police Command, began on Sunday, May 3, 2026, following intelligence reports, resulting in the arrest of ten suspects. A follow-up operation on Monday, May 4 led to the arrest of an additional suspect, bringing the total to eleven.

The suspects include Dawu Joseph (32), Evans Dekadzor (34), Kwame Aboagye (45), Christian Atsu (28), Samuel Annan (29), Thomas Davidson (34), Abusuapanyin Owusu Paul (56), Richard Agyekum (35), Jerry Johnson Kwame Atilla (42), and Samuel Obeng, among others.

Police say the eleventh suspect, Douglas Amoako Danquah, was arrested after he was allegedly paraded through the town, suggesting he had been installed as a rival chief—an act believed to have escalated tensions in the community.

During the operation, security personnel retrieved pump-action rifles and ammunition believed to be linked to the dispute.

Addressing the media, Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, Richard Appiah, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to maintain peace and stability in the area.

Authorities say investigations are continuing, and the suspects are expected to be processed in accordance with the law as security presence in the community is intensified to prevent further unrest.
