One Arrested Over Murder of Indian National in Kumasi

The Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, as investigations intensify.

According to a statement from the Police Public Affairs Unit, the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations into the case.

The victim had earlier been reported missing, prompting a police search operation. A major breakthrough occurred on April 25 at about 2:00 p.m., when police received information that his vehicle had been located on the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom, near the Royal Lemosy Hospital.

Officers who visited the scene found the vehicle parked by the roadside. Upon inspection, the lifeless body of Mr Singh was discovered in the boot, bearing multiple stab wounds.

The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has also been impounded to aid further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special team of intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend all individuals connected to the crime and have appealed to the public to provide any relevant information.

Authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice is served.
