Ghana Police Deploy Robust Security Measures Nationwide for Safe Easter Celebrations

The Ghana Police Service has announced comprehensive security arrangements across the country to ensure a safe, peaceful, and incident-free celebration of this year’s Easter festivities.

In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate on April 2, 2026, the Service stated that robust measures have been put in place to protect lives and property during the period.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes to inform the general public that robust security measures have been put in place to ensure a safe, peaceful, and incident-free celebration of this year’s Easter festivities,” the statement said.

 Security Arrangements

  • Personnel Deployment: Police personnel have been deployed nationwide, with particular attention to areas expected to attract large crowds, including the Kwahu enclave, event grounds, recreational centres, and major tourist destinations.
  • Intensified Patrols: Additional operational teams have been stationed along major routes leading to and from Kwahu to enhance security and ensure public safety.
  • Traffic Management: Motor traffic personnel have been deployed to manage traffic and minimise congestion throughout the period.
  • Intelligence-Led Operations: Ongoing intelligence operations have been activated across the country to detect and prevent potential criminal activity, with swift response capabilities in place.

The Police urged the public to support these efforts by adhering to safety guidelines and cooperating with officers on duty.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to all safety guidelines. Motorists are urged to observe road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, refrain from drunk driving and take directions from our officers to ensure safety on our roads,” the Service cautioned.

Citizens were also encouraged to prioritise personal safety and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police officer or station.

“We also encourage all patrons to be mindful of their personal safety and belongings and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police officer or Police station,” the statement added.

The Ghana Police Service assured Ghanaians of its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festive period.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter and assures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festivities,” it concluded.

Easter celebrations, particularly in areas like the Kwahu enclave known for large gatherings and hill-climbing events, typically see increased human and vehicular traffic, making enhanced security and traffic management essential.
