Deputy Energy Minister Launches 850kWp Solar System at Sintex Tank Factory

Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Mr. Richard Gyan-Mensah, has opened an 850kWp grid-tied solar power system at the Sintex Tank Factory in Tema Industrial Park. The event was on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

He stood in for Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor. Gyan-Mensah praised Sintex Industries for a “big step forward” in clean energy. The solar setup cuts costs, lowers carbon emissions, and meets global green standards.

He said the project helps the government’s goal to raise modern renewables in Ghana’s energy mix from 5% to 10% by 2030.

Gyan-Mensah called on all industries to follow Sintex’s lead. “This is a chance to make our factories, offices, and homes clean energy leaders. We can build a secure, cheap, and green energy future,” he said.

The installation shows strong private sector role in Ghana’s shift to sustainable energy.
