Thunderstorm Kills Over 20 Cattle Belonging to Fulani Herdsman in Tatale

 

More than 20 cattle belonging to a Fulani herdsman, Sarkin Amaru, have reportedly died after a severe thunderstorm struck Tatale in the Northern Region on Monday, May 25, 2026.

 

According to reports by Channel One TV, the incident occurred during an evening rainfall accompanied by intense lightning and heavy thunder.

 

Mr. Amaru explained that he was inside his hut when the storm suddenly intensified. Moments later, a loud thunderclap was heard before the cattle began collapsing.

 

He said he rushed outside after noticing one animal had fallen, only to discover that many others were also dying.

 

Within minutes, more than 20 cattle reportedly died instantly, leaving the herdsman devastated.

 

Mr. Amaru described the incident as a major economic setback, noting that the cattle were his primary source of livelihood and family support.

 

He is now appealing to government authorities, the district assembly, individuals, and charitable organisations for assistance to help him recover from the loss.
