15-Year-Old School Prefect Appeals for ICT Laboratory to Support Future Medical Dream

A 15-year-old school prefect of Koranteng M/A Basic School in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region, Laliff Gadafi, is appealing for the establishment of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory to support teaching and learning in his school.
Gadafi, who aspires to become a medical doctor, made the appeal during the commissioning of an ultra-modern classroom block in the presence of the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and other education stakeholders.
He explained that access to an ICT laboratory and improved learning materials would greatly enhance his education and that of his colleagues, especially as the world becomes increasingly driven by technology and artificial intelligence.
According to him, such facilities would help bridge the learning gap between rural and urban schools and better prepare students for future academic and professional opportunities.
Teachers at the school, who also shared in the pupil’s vision, joined in appealing for exercise books, textbooks, and other teaching and learning materials to support academic work. They expressed gratitude to the Municipal Chief Executive for the provision of a new kindergarten block, which they said would improve early childhood education in the area.
They further called for additional interventions to ensure that underserved communities receive equal educational opportunities.
The Assembly Member for the Koranteng Electoral Area, Roger Darko, also urged individuals in the diaspora and other stakeholders to support the school’s development efforts by giving back to improve infrastructure and learning conditions.
The appeal comes amid growing calls for improved ICT infrastructure in basic schools across rural Ghana to enhance digital literacy and educational outcomes.
