Tragic Accident Claims Life of 29-Year-Old Woman on Apowa-Agona Nkwanta Highway

A 29-year-old insurance agent, Esther Amoah, was fatally struck and run over by a cement-laden Benz truck on the Apowa-Agona Nkwanta Highway in the Western Region last Saturday.
The incident occurred as Amoah attempted to cross the road after visiting her younger brother, a student at St. Mary’s Boys Senior High School in Apowa. She was carrying a food flask for him at the time.
Eyewitness Isaac Conduah described the scene to Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson: “We were standing just at the entrance of the school. As she decided to cross, two vehicles were moving in opposite directions, causing confusion. Unfortunately, the cement truck knocked her down and ran over her. She was still holding the food flask.”
Conduah and others discovered identity cards and contact numbers in her bag, which they used to inform her family.
The truck, registered AS 630 P, was driven by an individual now in police custody assisting with investigations. Authorities are probing the circumstances of the speeding vehicle and road safety concerns at the busy junction near the school.
