The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Techiman Senior High School has donated 40 pieces of classroom furniture valued at GH¢28,000 to the school to help address the furniture deficit and improve teaching and learning.
The donation forms part of efforts by the newly constituted PTA executive to respond to some of the challenges confronting the school and create a more conducive environment for both teachers and learners.
Speaking on behalf of the PTA Chairman, the Project Coordinator of the Association, Pastor Sampson Seglah, said the new executives, who assumed office three months ago, had identified several challenges that required urgent attention.
He said apart from the furniture deficit, the condition of some classrooms and the road network within the school remained concerns that the PTA was committed to helping address.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and students, Headteacher of the school, Moses Kofi Adu, expressed appreciation to the PTA for the gesture, describing the donation as timely.
The school’s Boys’ Prefect, on his part, highlighted the impact of the furniture shortage, particularly during examinations, saying some students had previously been forced to wait for their colleagues to finish before they could write their papers.
He expressed gratitude to the PTA for the intervention, describing the donation as a significant relief to the school.
