Seven killed in fatal crash on Nkawkaw–Atibie road

Seven people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident involving a Hyundai Grace minibus on the Nkawkaw–Atibie Road in the Eastern Region.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service at Nkawkaw, the incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, at about 10:28 p.m., after a distress call was received.
Fire officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene, arriving approximately 20 minutes later to begin rescue and safety operations.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Hyundai Grace minibus, with registration number GR 5660-18, was involved in a severe crash that left the vehicle completely destroyed.
“All seven persons onboard have been confirmed dead,” the Fire Service stated.
Firefighters secured the scene to prevent further hazards, while personnel from the Mpraeso Fire Station joined the operation to assist.
Officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department and the National Ambulance Service Ghana also supported efforts, managing traffic and handling recovery operations.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
