Second Batch of Ghana Armed Forces Recruits Begins Basic Military Training

The second batch of recruits of the Ghana Armed Forces has reported to various training centres across the country to begin a six-month Basic Military Training programme aimed at preparing them for service.

According to a Facebook post by the Ghana Armed Forces, the recruits officially reported to their respective training centres on Friday, 23 October 2026, to commence the programme.

The recruits have been assigned to five training schools: the Army Recruit Training School, Air Force Recruit Training School, Navy Recruit Training School, Armour Training School and Army Special Operations Training School.

During the six-month programme, the recruits are expected to undergo intensive training designed to instil discipline, professionalism and the core values of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The training curriculum will cover several essential military subjects, including field craft, first aid, weapon handling, drill, map reading and physical training.

The programme is intended to equip the recruits with the practical skills and knowledge required to meet the standards of the Armed Forces and uphold its traditions and values.

The Ghana Armed Forces says the training will guide the recruits throughout their period at the various training schools as they prepare for their future military responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has announced that the government will not open applications for fresh recruitment into the various security services in 2027, as authorities focus on clearing the existing backlog of qualified applicants awaiting enlistment.

The minister said the decision was taken in accordance with instructions from President John Dramani Mahama, adding that the government intends to prioritise applicants who have already completed the recruitment process and met the requirements but could not be admitted for training because of limited space.
