Sagnarigu MUSEC Imposes Dusk-to-Dawn Curfew After Communal Clashes

– The Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Damankunyili, Nyeshie and surrounding communities following violent communal clashes that claimed one life and left six others injured.

The clashes are believed to have been triggered by a longstanding land dispute, with both the Damankunyili and Nyeshie communities laying claim to the same parcel of land.

The violence prompted an emergency meeting of the Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council on Tuesday to assess the security situation and adopt measures to restore calm.

In a statement signed by the Municipal Chief Executive and Chairman of MUSEC, Abdulai Imoro Gong, the council condemned the violence, expressed condolences to the bereaved family, and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

To prevent further escalation, MUSEC announced a daily curfew from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., which will remain in force until further notice.

The council has also banned the possession and carrying of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons within the affected communities.

Security has since been heightened, with joint police patrols deployed to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order.

Authorities have urged residents to comply fully with the restrictions and cooperate with security personnel as efforts continue to restore peace to the area.
