Police at the Kantanso–Asankare Barrier in the Juaso District have intercepted a passenger bus carrying a large cache of ammunition.
The incident occurred when officers stopped a Kia Granbird bus traveling from Accra to Tamale for a routine search. During the inspection, police discovered 1,050 rounds of AAA and BB ammunition concealed in a fertilizer sack.
The driver and his mate were immediately arrested and are currently in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
Police have launched further inquiries to determine the source and intended destination of the ammunition, as well as whether other individuals may be involved.
