Energy Minister to Address Nation on Power Sector Developments Today

The Minister for Energy, John Abdulai Jinapor, is expected to address the nation today at 2:00 p.m. on recent developments in Ghana’s electricity sector.

The briefing comes amid growing concerns about the stability and management of power supply, following key incidents including the fire at the Akosombo Power Control Centre and recent leadership changes within the Electricity Company of Ghana, particularly in the Ashanti Region.

The address is expected to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the Akosombo fire, which disrupted operations and affected power supply in parts of the country. The Minister is also anticipated to outline measures being taken to stabilise the system and prevent future incidents.

In addition, Mr Jinapor is likely to shed light on the leadership shake-up within ECG and explain how these changes fit into broader efforts to improve efficiency and service delivery in the electricity distribution sector.

The briefing is seen as a crucial opportunity for the government to reassure the public and address mounting concerns over recent disruptions in the power sector
