NDC Chairman Asiedu Nketia Attributes Improved Ashanti Region Performance to Grassroots Engagement

“We Decided to Go to Those Difficult Areas” – Party Chairman Praises Traditional Leaders and Residents for Electoral Gains

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has attributed the party’s improved performance in the Ashanti Region during the last general elections to deliberate and sustained grassroots engagement in areas previously considered strongholds of the opposition.

Speaking during a thank-you tour in the Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said the NDC took a strategic decision to directly engage residents in “difficult” communities instead of avoiding them.

“We decided to go to those difficult areas to speak to the people, and slowly we were able to campaign. The results show we performed better than we envisaged,” he stated.

He commended traditional leaders and the people of the Ashanti Region for their openness and support, describing their contribution as instrumental to the party’s electoral gains in the region.

The NDC chairman emphasised the strategic importance of the Ashanti Region in national politics, noting that no political party can afford to ignore it if it wants to win power at the national level.

He assured residents that the NDC remains committed to addressing their concerns and that the current government under President John Dramani Mahama is working hard to improve living conditions across the country, including in the Ashanti Region.

The visit forms part of Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s broader thank-you tour to constituencies where the NDC recorded notable improvements or victories in the 2024 general elections.
