Mahama Arrives in Brazzaville for Sassou N’Guesso Inauguration

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Brazzaville to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Denis Sassou N’Guesso, following his re-election for another five-year term.
The visit comes shortly after President Mahama launched his flagship Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa on Wednesday, April 15, before departing for the Central African nation.
High-level continental gathering
President Mahama is expected to join several African leaders and senior officials at Thursday’s ceremony, which will formally usher President Sassou N’Guesso into a new term of office.
The event is anticipated to attract dignitaries from across the continent, highlighting its diplomatic significance.
Strengthening regional ties
The trip is also seen as part of Ghana’s broader efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic relations within Africa, particularly with countries in Central Africa.
Such engagements are expected to enhance cooperation in areas including trade, governance, and regional development.
Same-day return
President Mahama is scheduled to return to Accra later the same day after participating in the ceremony.
