GES Debunks Fake 2026 BECE School Selection Notice

The Ghana Education Service has described as false a widely circulated notice claiming that the 2026 school selection exercise for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates commenced on June 15, 2026.
In a statement issued on June 14, the Service clarified that it has not announced the commencement of the school selection process and advised candidates, parents, guardians, teachers, and the general public to disregard the information being shared on various platforms.
According to GES, the fake notice falsely claimed that candidates were required to select and submit five preferred schools ahead of the placement process. It also indicated that there was no deadline for submissions and directed candidates and parents to seek assistance through an unofficial WhatsApp support line.
The Service stressed that the publication did not originate from GES and should be ignored entirely. It emphasized that all official information regarding school selection and placement exercises would be communicated through recognised and authorised channels.
GES further warned parents and candidates against submitting personal information or engaging with individuals behind the fraudulent announcement, noting that such misinformation could expose unsuspecting members of the public to scams and other forms of exploitation.
The Service urged stakeholders to verify all education-related information before acting on it and to rely only on official communications from government and education authorities.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible placement process and assured the public that any future updates concerning the 2026 school selection exercise would be announced through its official communication platforms.
