Gang Clash in Mpasaaso Leaves One Dead, Pregnant Woman Critically Injured

A violent gang clash in Mpasaaso No. 1 and No. 2, Ahafo Ano South-West District, Ashanti Region, on July 23, 2025, at around 3:00 PM, has left one person dead and three others, including a pregnant woman, critically injured.
The incident, described as one of the worst in the farming and mining community, has heightened fear, with farmers avoiding their fields and students too scared to attend school.
Residents reported that attackers stormed the Queen Mother of Mpasaaso No. 2’s home after the shooting, ransacking her room in an apparent act of intimidation.
Abusuapanin Dwamena Mensah, a local family head, expressed frustration over the authorities’ inaction, noting that despite multiple complaints, no arrests have been made. “Things continue to deteriorate,” he said.
Collins Appiah Afrifa, a witness, echoed this sentiment, criticizing the lack of response from the Mankranso Police Commander. “We have lost faith in the cops. If local authorities don’t act, we’ll defend ourselves,” he warned. Youth Leader Kwadwo Asare accused District Chief Executive Abubakar Saddick of colluding with the perpetrators, threatening self-defense if no action is taken by Friday.
The communities are now urgently appealing to the Inspector General of Police and the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for immediate intervention to restore peace and protect lives and property.
