President Mahama to Meet CSOs on October 3 to Tackle Galamsey Crisis

President John Dramani Mahama will host a critical meeting with major civil society organizations (CSOs) at the Jubilee House on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:00 noon to address the ongoing illegal mining crisis, known as galamsey.
The engagement aims to foster open dialogue between government officials and CSO leaders to devise lasting solutions to the environmental and social damage caused by illegal mining, which has devastated water bodies, farmlands, and forest reserves across Ghana.
A letter from Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, emphasized the meeting’s goal of “harnessing collective expertise, perspectives, and solutions” to combat the national challenge.
The discussion comes amid growing public outcry over galamsey’s destructive impact, with calls for stronger action to protect Ghana’s natural resources and future generations.
