Foreign Affairs Ministry Fast-Tracks Replacement of Passports Lost in Floods

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a fast-tracked process to replace passports lost or damaged during this week’s devastating floods, with affected persons required to register by 17 July.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry expressed its condolences to families affected by the floods, which have claimed lives and destroyed property across several communities in Ghana.
According to the Ministry, many victims either lost their passports or had them damaged during the flooding. To ease the burden on those affected, it has introduced an expedited passport replacement exercise.
Affected persons are required to contact the Ministry on 055 936 8563 between 3 July and 17 July. Applicants will need to provide their full name, date of birth and gender exactly as they appear on their passport, together with a contact telephone number.
The Ministry said it aims to replace all eligible lost or damaged passports within one week of processing.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting flood victims and pledged to continue assisting the government’s recovery efforts.
The announcement comes as authorities continue to assess the full impact of the floods, which have caused widespread destruction, displaced thousands of residents and damaged homes and businesses across several communities.
