First Deputy National Imam Urges Public to Expose Drug Dealers for Arrest

The First Deputy National Imam of Ahlussunna Wal-Jama’a, Sheikh Mohammed Khamil Mohammed, has appealed to the public to expose individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs to enable security agencies to arrest and prosecute them.
He said the fight against drug abuse would not yield the desired results if attention is focused solely on consumers while those supplying the substances continue to operate within communities.
Sheikh Mohammed Khamil Mohammed made the appeal during a two-day tour in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem Municipality.
He observed that only a few individuals are benefiting from the proceeds of the drug trade while many young people suffer the consequences.
Meanwhile, the Second Deputy National Imam of Ahlussunna Wal-Jama’a, Sheikh Mohammed Amin Osman, called for intensified education on the authentic teachings of Islam to preserve the religion’s original message for future generations.
He expressed concern that some people had embraced practices and perceptions that do not reflect the fundamental teachings of Islam.
For his part, the Municipal Police Commander, DSP Edmund Agyekum, rejected the perception that social vices were exclusively associated with Muslims, noting that many Muslims occupy prestigious positions across the world.
He called on parents, religious leaders and community members to prioritise the education of children as a means of securing a better future for them.
DSP Agyekum also appealed to influential individuals to allow the police to perform their duties without interference, particularly in cases involving serious offences such as rape.
