Fatal Accident at Tech Junction Station in Kumasi Claims Life of Conductor

A tragic accident at Tech Junction station in Kumasi has claimed the life of a commercial ‘trotro’ conductor after three vehicles were involved in a collision.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to Adom News said the incident occurred when the driver’s mate jumped out of a moving trotro while approaching the station to register for the next load of passengers.
The conductor reportedly lost balance, fell under the wheels of his own vehicle, and was run over.
The trotro then collided with another vehicle that was loading passengers at the station.
A third vehicle following closely behind also ran over the fallen mate, who was later pronounced dead at Tech Hospital.
An eyewitness recounted:
“The mate jumped out of the moving van to register for the next load, but he slipped and fell. Their own vehicle hit him, and as he tried to stand up, another van behind ran him over too.”
She added that other passengers managed to escape unharmed.
“Apart from the mate, no one else was hurt. It is actually shocking, this is the first time something like this has happened here,” she said.
The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has towed all three vehicles involved to the station for examination. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by conductors who frequently jump in and out of moving vehicles at busy loading stations. Authorities have renewed calls for caution and adherence to road safety protocols among commercial drivers and their mates.
The deceased has been identified only as a conductor; his full name and further details are yet to be released by the police.
