Driver Rescued After Vehicle Crashes into ECG Pole in Volta Region

A driver was rescued by firefighters after his vehicle crashed into an (ECG) distribution pole at Anfoega Adame Newtown in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The accident occurred on Monday, July 7, 2026, when a Hyundai Accent with registration number GW 6383-17 reportedly veered off the road and collided with the utility pole, trapping the driver inside the mangled vehicle.

Personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station of the (GNFS), whose station is located directly opposite the crash scene, responded immediately after witnessing the incident.

The rescue operation, led by Station Officer I Franklin Soglo, successfully extricated the driver from the wreckage.

The driver escaped without visible injuries but was advised to seek medical attention as a precaution.

Following the rescue, the damaged vehicle was towed to a police station to assist with investigations into the cause of the crash.

Firefighters also managed traffic at the scene to ensure the safe movement of motorists and other road users while emergency operations were carried out.

The Ghana National Fire Service has reminded motorists to obey road safety regulations, avoid distractions while driving and exercise caution at all times to help reduce road traffic accidents across the country.
