Dr. Frank Bannor Appointed Spokesperson for NPP Finance and Economy Sector Committee

Development Economist and policy researcher, Frank Bannor, has been appointed as spokesperson for the Finance and Economy Sector Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party following a major restructuring exercise by the party.

 

The appointment forms part of newly constituted Standing and Sector Committees approved by the party’s National Executive Committee and National Council during a meeting held on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

 

A statement announcing the appointments was signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Friday, May 8, 2026.

 

According to the statement, the restructuring exercise is intended to strengthen the party’s internal governance, policy coordination, and strategic planning as it prepares for future political engagements.

 

Under the Finance and Economy Sector Committee, former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam and economist Steve Opata will serve as Co-Chairs of the committee.

 

Dr. Bannor and Issah Fuseini have been appointed as spokespersons, while Hamida Nuhu will serve as Secretary.

 

The committee is expected to play a leading role in developing and communicating the NPP’s economic policies, fiscal proposals, and governance alternatives as the party works to reposition itself after the 2024 general elections.

 

Dr. Bannor currently lectures at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and serves as Director at the Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy. He is also a Research Associate at the Public and Environmental Economics Research Centre.

 

He holds a PhD in Economics from University of Johannesburg and has received additional academic and professional training in climate economics, land governance, environmental policy, and mineral negotiations from institutions across Africa and Europe.

 

With more than 15 years of experience in academia and public policy research, Dr. Bannor has previously worked with institutions including the Danquah Institute, Monash University, and Accra Business School.
