NDC to Hold National Delegates Conference on December 19, 2026

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced that it will hold its National Delegates Conference on Saturday, December 19, 2026, to elect new national party leaders.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the General Secretary, Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the internal elections will follow a bottom-to-top approach, beginning at the branch level, moving through constituency and regional structures, and culminating at the national level.
He outlined the key timelines for the process:

Filing of nominations: Saturday, November 7 to Monday, November 9, 2026
Vetting of aspirants: Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13, 2026
Appeals: Sunday, November 15 and Monday, November 16, 2026
Youth and Women’s Conference: Saturday, December 12, 2026
National Delegates Conference: Saturday, December 19, 2026

Mr Kwetey explained that the exercise forms part of the party’s broader preparations to reorganise and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“So that completes the very important edifice that is supposed to prepare for the next round of fighting for the power in the country and also ensure that we continue the good job that we are doing,” he stated.

The announcement signals the NDC’s early strategic planning to consolidate its position and build on its current governance mandate as it gears up for the next national contest. The party leadership has called on all members to participate actively in the grassroots processes to ensure a united and strong front ahead of 2028.
