Asante Kotoko Return to Winning Ways with 2-1 Victory Over Young Apostles

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Young Apostles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Week 7.

Goals from Hubert Gyau and Cameroonian striker Solomon Nsor Saah secured all three points for the Porcupine Warriors, while Iddrisu Huziaf scored the consolation goal for Young Apostles.

All three goals came in the second half, with Kotoko breaking the deadlock in the 70th minute through Gyau before Nsor Saah doubled their advantage in the 82nd minute.

Young Apostles responded with a goal from Huziaf in the 92nd minute, but their late effort proved insufficient to prevent Kotoko from claiming victory.

The result provides a timely boost for Kotoko, who went into the encounter seeking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Swedru All Blacks in their previous league outing.

Young Apostles, meanwhile, had entered the game on the back of a narrow victory over Aduana FC but were unable to build on that result.

The victory moves Kotoko to seventh position on the league table with 11 points, while Young Apostles remain 16th with seven points.

Kotoko will now turn their attention to their Week 8 fixture, where they travel to Obuasi to face FC AshantiGold 04.

AshantiGold 04 will also be looking to respond after suffering a defeat to Aduana FC in Dormaa in their Week 7 encounter.

Kotoko will hope to carry the momentum from their victory over Young Apostles into the Obuasi clash as they seek to climb further up the league standings.
