55-Year-Old Man Jailed Five Years for Blinding Sister in Brutal Attack at Sefwi Abrokofe

A 55-year-old man has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour for attacking his sister and inflicting life-changing injuries on her at Sefwi Abrokofe in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The convict, William Gyamfi, popularly known as Kwasi Manso, was found guilty by the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court for assaulting his 50-year-old sister, Akua Agyeiwaa, during a misunderstanding that turned violent on January 17, 2026.
According to evidence presented before the court, the altercation escalated when William allegedly stabbed his sister in both eyes, leaving her with severe injuries and sending shockwaves through the community.
The incident led to his arrest and subsequent prosecution by the police.
After hearing the case, His Honour James Mensah Donkor, presiding judge at the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court, convicted the accused and sentenced him to five years in prison with hard labour.
Speaking to 3News, the Juaboso District Police Commander, Superintendent Isaac Otsin, said the conviction underscores the commitment of the Ghana Police Service and the judiciary to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes.
He cautioned against resorting to violence in resolving disputes, stressing that such actions often have devastating and irreversible consequences.
Superintendent Otsin further urged the public to embrace peaceful means of settling disagreements to prevent similar incidents in the future.
