15 Killed, 25 Injured in Fatal Road Accident at Peki-Tsame

At least 15 people have died while 25 others sustained injuries following a tragic road accident at Peki-Tsame in the Volta Region.

 

The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, near Peki Senior High School when a Mercedes-Benz container truck travelling from Nkwanta to Accra collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus heading from Battor to Kabiti in the Oti Region.

 

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, a total of 40 people were involved in the accident, including 21 males, 15 females, and four children.

 

Personnel from the Peki Fire Station responded swiftly to the scene and carried out rescue operations to free victims trapped in the wreckage.

 

The Fire Service said 25 injured persons, made up of 23 adults and two children, were rescued and transported to Peki Government Hospital for medical treatment.

 

The deceased comprised nine males and six females.

 

Bodies of the victims were handed over to the Police and conveyed to the hospital mortuary for preservation and further investigations.

 

Authorities are yet to establish the exact cause of the crash, with investigations currently ongoing.

 

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service has extended condolences to the bereaved families and urged motorists to observe road traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, and exercise caution to help reduce road accidents across the country.
