Youth of Gwiraland Appeal to Government Over Killing at Galamsey Site and Poor Roads

The Youth of Gwiraland Association has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama, the Municipal Chief Executive of Nzema East, the Member of Parliament for the area, and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources to urgently intervene following the killing of the junior brother of their chief and ongoing challenges linked to illegal mining activities.

According to the association, the deceased, a 13-year-old boy, was allegedly killed by armed men, popularly referred to as “budos,” at a galamsey site within the area.

The incident has reportedly heightened fear and tension among residents, with community members calling for swift investigations and justice for the deceased.

The association also raised concerns over the deteriorating state of roads within the community, describing them as poor and inaccessible, especially during the rainy season.

Members of the group appealed to government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to improve security in the area and address the growing impact of illegal mining activities on residents.

They further called for urgent road rehabilitation projects to improve transportation and ease movement within the community.

The Youth of Gwiraland Association stressed that immediate intervention from authorities would help restore calm and improve living conditions for residents in the area.

For further details, the association urged the public to contact its leadership and representatives.
