WAEC Launches Online Portal for WASSCE Candidates to Check Examination Malpractice Status

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Ghana has rolled out a groundbreaking online system enabling candidates to verify their status regarding examination malpractice for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The portal, accessible at https://irreg.waecgh.org/candidate/login, allows candidates to confirm whether their names have been flagged for irregularities or cleared, marking a significant step toward transparency in the examination process.

In an official notice, WAEC outlined a straightforward process for candidates:
Visit https://irreg.waecgh.org/candidate/login.
Enter the exact details used during WASSCE registration, including index number and personal information.
Click “Submit” to view the record.
The portal will display whether the candidate has been implicated in malpractice or cleared with a “No Malpractice” status.
WAEC emphasized the importance of inputting accurate details to ensure correct results. Candidates flagged for malpractice are urged to contact their schools or the nearest WAEC office immediately for clarification and resolution. This initiative follows persistent concerns over exam integrity, with 2024 WASSCE data reporting 2,135 cases of irregularities—down 15% from 2023—prompting WAEC to digitize oversight and reduce disputes over withheld results.
The portal, developed in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), aims to streamline communication and curb delays in addressing malpractice claims, which previously required in-person verification. “This is a game-changer for accountability and fairness,” said WAEC Head of National Office, Wendy Addy-Lamptey, noting that over 450,000 candidates from the 2025 WASSCE cohort can now access their status instantly.
