Landlady Dies After Alleged Assault Over Sanitation Dispute at Agona Nyakrom

A landlady, identified as Madam Charlotte, has died at Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region following an alleged assault linked to a dispute with a tenant over poor sanitation.
According to reports, the incident began when a tenant allegedly defecated into a polythene bag and left it in front of Madam Charlotte’s room. The landlady reportedly confronted the tenant over the act, which she described as unhygienic and disrespectful.
The tenant, however, explained that she was suffering from a stomach upset and could not make it to the public toilet in time. A heated argument reportedly ensued but was believed to have been resolved shortly afterward.
Tensions later escalated when the tenant accused Madam Charlotte of gossiping about the incident within the community. In response, the tenant allegedly called her grandson, identified as Paa Kwesi, to intervene.
Upon his arrival, Paa Kwesi is alleged to have attacked Madam Charlotte, assaulting her with a belt. Following the incident, the landlady’s health reportedly deteriorated rapidly.
Madam Charlotte, who was said to have a history of high blood pressure, was rushed to the Nyakrom Health Centre and later referred to another hospital. She was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident has shocked residents of Agona Nyakrom and reignited concerns about sanitation practices, conflict resolution, and the consequences of violent confrontations. Investigations are expected to be carried out to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death.
