WAEC Issues Final Warning: WAEC will cancel all results of candidates who are proven beyond doubt to have engaged in any form of malpractice in WASSCE 2025.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has served notice that every single subject of any candidate caught cheating in 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be cancelled outright.
In a one-page bulletin posted on all regional offices and the official website this morning, WAEC spelled out the two non-negotiable sanctions:
- CER – Cancellation of Entire Results
Proven use of:- leaked papers
- hired mercenaries
- electronic devices inside exam halls
- impersonation

- CSR – Cancellation of Subject Results
Proven possession of:- crib notes
- pre-written answers on body parts or clothing
- collusion with invigilators
Zero tolerance, zero appeal
- All sanctions are final and irreversible.
- No re-sit in the cancelled subject(s) until 2027.
- Names of offenders will be published in the national dailies and forwarded to all tertiary institutions.
New detection arsenal
- AI-powered handwriting matching
- Live CCTV feeds to WAEC’s Command Centre
- Drone surveillance over “hot-spot” centres
- Random biometric re-verification at the gate

First casualties
By close of day yesterday, 47 candidates (32 in Greater Accra, 15 in Ashanti) had their entire 2025 results cancelled for smuggling smartphones. Their scripts were shredded in front of CCTV.
