Police Assistant Arrested Over Assault on Patient at Akoti Health Centre

A 20-year-old Community Police Assistant (CPA), Bismark Yeboah, has been arrested in connection with the assault of a patient, Kenneth Yaw Buabeng, at the Akoti Health Centre.

According to reports, Buabeng was receiving medical treatment for severe cutlass wounds when he was attacked by a group of about ten young men, including the police assistant. The assault allegedly continued until the victim passed out while on admission.

Police sources indicate that the incident stemmed from an earlier altercation in which Buabeng is alleged to have attacked members of the family of one Daniel, who also sustained serious cutlass injuries during the confrontation. Police have described Buabeng as the initial aggressor in the dispute.

Despite this claim, concerns have been raised over the conduct of the attackers, particularly the involvement of a Community Police Assistant, who is expected to uphold the law rather than participate in acts of violence.

Both Bismark Yeboah and Kenneth Yaw Buabeng have since been arrested as investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued a detailed statement on the incident, but the case has reignited public debate over abuse of authority, mob justice, and professionalism among auxiliary security personnel.
