Two Suspects Arrested in Ablekuma North Election Violence Probe, Police Vow Justice

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, Musah Muntari, a 46-year-old Station Manager at STC, and Ali Saeed, alias Mboma, a 43-year-old businessman, in connection with violent incidents during the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run on July 11, 2025.
The arrests, announced in a July 23, 2025, press release signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, follow reports of assaults and disruptions at polling stations, including attacks on former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson, NPP Deputy National Organiser Chris Asamoah, and GHOne TV journalist Agyekum Banahene.
The police have reaffirmed their commitment to holding all perpetrators accountable, with ongoing investigations supported by video reviews and witness statements. A police officer filmed assaulting the journalist has been interdicted and faces criminal charges, as confirmed in a July 17, 2025, statement.
The command urges the public to provide credible information via emergency numbers 18555 or 191 to aid the probe.
The re-run, held across 19 polling stations to resolve disputes from the December 2024 election, saw the NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn secure victory, consolidating the party’s parliamentary majority.
