Kumasi’s Pure FM Off Air After Devastating Studio Fire Destroys Equipment

On the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a fierce fire ravaged the studios of Kumasi-based Pure FM, a member of the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), forcing the station off air.
The blaze, which broke out during a live broadcast at the station’s Patasi premises, destroyed all studio equipment, though the main building was saved after over three hours of firefighting efforts by the Ghana National Fire Service. No injuries or fatalities were reported, as confirmed by authorities.
Kwame Adinkra, Pure FM’s Morning Show host, shared an emotional statement on social media, saying, “I’m completely exhausted. We’ve just spent over three intense hours battling the fire that broke out at Pure FM studios. Thankfully, we managed to save the building, but we lost all our studio equipment. We’ll be off air temporarily—but we shall rise again!”
Preliminary reports suggest an electrical fault may have triggered the fire, though the Ghana National Fire Service is still investigating to determine the exact cause.
Pure FM, known for its sports coverage and vibrant programming like the “I-Report” segment, has suspended all broadcasts to assess the damage and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
This incident echoes a similar fire in March 2023 that gutted another Kumasi-based station, Silver FM, highlighting recurring safety concerns for media facilities in the region.
Posts on X reflect public shock and support, with users like @GyasiEkourba and @CapoDeSupremo lamenting the loss of equipment and expressing hope for the station’s recovery.
