Two Soldiers, Three Police Officers Arrested Over Alleged Robbery Syndicate

Two military officers and three police personnel have been arrested and interdicted over their alleged involvement in a robbery syndicate linked to a series of attacks across several parts of Ghana.

The suspects include Lance Corporal Eugene Akurugu, Lance Corporal Emmanuel Arko, Inspector Richmond Osei, Corporal Gideon Anor, and Lance Corporal Felix Deku Tetteyga.

According to reports, the five security officers were among seven suspects arrested in connection with the criminal network, which is believed to be responsible for a number of robbery operations in Accra, Tema, Anyinam, Kumasi, and Takoradi.

Victims were reportedly robbed of cash, gold, and mercury during the attacks.

The implicated officers have since been interdicted to allow investigations to proceed without interference.

The development has sparked public concern over alleged criminal involvement by some members of the security services, while many have also commended the security agencies for taking action against their own personnel.

Investigations into the syndicate are ongoing.
