Two Arrested in Binduri Market Swoop with G3 Rifles, Ammo; Motorbike Recovered from Tengmasug Killings

Security forces have arrested two suspects, including a woman, in a major operation around the Binduri market in a Mamprusi community, seizing two G3 rifles and a large quantity of ammunition.

The swoop, conducted on December 4, 2025, also led to the recovery of a motorbike belonging to one of the victims from the brutal attack in Tengmasug, a suburb of Binduri District.

The arrests follow the horrific November 7, 2025, attack in Tengmasug, where seven members of a household – including women and children – were killed in what authorities suspect was a targeted reprisal amid chieftaincy and land disputes.

The recovered motorbike was identified as stolen during the assault, marking a breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

Mahmud Issifu, Member of Parliament for Binduri, commended the military’s efforts in the operation and urged them to intensify the hunt for other fugitives on the Ghana Police Service’s wanted list.

“I call on the security agencies to pursue other criminals who are currently on the Ghana Police Service’s wanted list,” Issifu said.

He stressed the need for immediate prosecution of the arrested suspects to deter further violence in the volatile area.

The Upper East Region has seen escalating tensions, with recent clashes displacing hundreds and prompting calls for enhanced security deployments.

Authorities have assured the public of continued operations to restore calm.
